Policy Statement
Cleveland Police is committed to delivering the highest possible service in
respect of the investigation of Major Crime. Investigations into such offences
will be carried out with integrity and to the high standards expected of
Cleveland Police.

Policy aims and application
Aims:
The primary aim of this policy is to investigate, identify and prosecute
perpetrators to the satisfaction of the victim and the community.
The policy recognises the provisions contained within the European
Convention on Human Rights. By implication, it therefore follows that all
activities carried out within this policy should adhere to the content and spirit
of the convention. This policy is also designed to ensure integrity,
consistency and high standards for all those involved in the investigation of
major crime.
Application:
This policy applies to all Police Officers and Police Staff of Cleveland Police.
