OUR TRAINING PROGRAMS
The Electrical Industry Training Center was established in 1941 when the International
Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local Union 1, and the Saint Louis Chapter of the National
Electrical Contractors Association secured the first set of US DOL registered training standards
for the electrical industry.
Today our Electrical Connection® partnership manages earn-while-you-learn training programs
for the (1) Industrial/Commercial, (2) Residential, and (3) Telecommunications industries.
HOW TO APPLY
Due to the restrictions outlined in St. Louis City Health Commissioner’s Order
#13, please call (314) 644-3587 to schedule an appointment to submit an
application.
STEP 1 – WRITTEN APPLICATION
Applications are accepted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8am and 3:30pm at
the Electrical Industry Training Center, 2300 Hampton Avenue, St. Louis, Missouri 63139.
The following minimum requirements apply:
1. *18 years of age
2. A citizen of the United States
3. Residence in the geographic jurisdiction of the IBEW Local 1
4. Education: High school diploma, GED, or post-secondary degree from an accredited
institution. In addition, when applying for the industrial/commercial program an
applicant’s academic record must include one academic year of algebra** and
geometry**. The academic record for applicants of the residential and
telecommunications apprenticeship program must include one academic year of
algebra**
*An official copy of a birth certificate is required for age verification.
**High school level or above. NOTE: Applicants lacking these minimum mathematic
requirements are eligible to enroll in the Online Tech Math course offered through our National
Training Institute.
Official transcripts are reviewed, and a numerical value is placed on industry-related
coursework and attendance records. Emphasis is placed on the following subjects: algebra,
geometry, advanced algebra, trigonometry, physics, technical drawing, shop & electrical theor
