Subject: RE: SAVE HEOL LAS PARK PAVILION
Thank you very much for your communication Mrs Dunlop. I can see that the issue is
clearly of great interest locally.
I am told that you have met with the Leader, Cabinet Member and officers recently,
and we have made clear the fact that the Council will unfortunately not have the
money to repair the building. At the same time, we understand that the Community
Association does not wish to accept the transfer of the asset. I understand that, at
the meeting, you agreed a number of actions including
1. CCS officers to discuss the support and options available for self
management directly with the clubs using the park.
2. CCS to discuss directly with the Assembly Strategic Regeneration Team the
potential for attracting WAG money to fund improvement
3. CCS to forward to BCA costings for the alternative provision of metal
containers
If these are unsuccessful then demolition will be inevitable and the following
action will need to take place
CCS to consider the possible use of planning conditions to provide community
facilities via section 106 agreements, subject to future development.
I am assured that my officers will be directly in touch with you once these actions
are completed.
Can I thank you again for your continuing interest and commitment on the matter,
and for your understanding of the council’s position.
Thank you,
Paul Smith
