Discrete Reportable Transcription to Populate the EHR/EMR With Physician Dictated Reports Scribe will be demonstrating M*Modal Speech Understanding and Discrete Reportable Transcription at the MGMA 2009 Annual Conference, October 11th through 14th Lake Forest, IL (PRWEB) October 10, 2009 -- Scribe Healthcare Technologies, Inc. (http://www.scribe.com), will be demonstrating the benefits of M*Modal Speech Understanding and Discrete Reportable Transcription at the MGMA Annual Conference in Denver, CO next week. Scribe is one of the first technology companies to offer this method for physician's to continue dictating a traditional narrated note while leveraging M*Modal Speech Understanding technology to create the report and auto-populate the appropriate fields within the Electronic Health Record. The "Health Story Project" also promotes the act of allowing physicians to dictate a "narrative report" and auto-populate fields within the EHR. "We view transcription as the perfect method to input patient information into the EHR," said Mark Boyce, Scribe President and CEO. With technology like M*Modal's Speech Understanding and Scribe's workflow platform, Scribe is able to: • Allow physicians to dictate detailed narrated patient notes • M*Modal translates the speech into an accurate and complete document • Medical transcription editors make final corrections to each report • Scribe interfaces with the EHR to populate appropriate fields - i.e. subjective, objective, assessment, plan, etc. According to John Weiss, Scribe Vice President, "Discrete Reportable Transcription can minimize 'change' while speeding implementation and compliance for the EHR." Scribe has over 200 interfaces with various health information systems. The majority of them simply upload Microsoft Word or text documents into the EHR. Individual fields are left blank or require a person to transpose the transcribed information (cut/paste). More advanced integrations allow "marker" based dictation which require the physician to dictate into the respective fields in the EHR. This creates a change in dictation behavior that most physicians dislike. It also creates more work for the transcriptionist, which in turn increases cost. Scribe's offering of Discrete Reportable Transcription avoids the pitfalls of "marker" based transcription while delivering the desired result - detailed patient information entered into the EHR without altering physician or transcriptionist behavior. M*Modal Speech Understanding further increases efficiency while reducing documentation costs. "We are excited to be attending MGMA and demonstrating Discrete Reportable Transcription," said John Weiss. "Finally we have a clear path to make technology work for healthcare, rather than healthcare working for technology."
