Dear Mr. Parkhill,
Our company, Alabama Fluid System Technologies, has 3 major steel companies in our sales area with 5 separate sites.
To say that they are a significant part of our success is an understatement. Beyond selling product to these mills, our
manufacturer, The Swagelok Company, is 100% dependent on steel, especially stainless steel, to service our market for
industrial instrument valves and fittings.
Recently, we had to justify to our clients a significant price increase due to the unprecedented jump in the price of raw
material to our principals, The Swagelok Company. The price jump we were told was nickel related components of
stainless steel which seems to be fully controlled by other nations.
In light of our foreign dependence on oil, we Alabamians would not like to go down this similar road with steel. We
believe it is urgent that you address and commit to expand and extend the existing steel import monitoring and analysis
system. We know how time flies. With only 6 months to go before the existing program expires, we urge your office to
take immediate action to help the U.S. companies.
Please let us know your thoughts. We have 23 employees at Alabama Fluid System Technologies who await a reply.
Also, our principle, The Swagelok Company, with over 2000 related distributors and associates are very interested in your
thoughts and action.
Please help us.
