CAP Required Fields

The following fields must be completed when adding
a new course in CAP.
Syllabus and Department Memo
Attach at least two seperate files, such as a Microsoft
Word documents, that contain the course syllabus
and department rationale for adding the course. Click
Add Attachment again to add multiple files.
Course Title
Enter the full course title as it is to appear in the
Announcement publication. There is a 100-character
limit. Press the Tab key to populate the Short Title and
Transcript Title fields.
Short Title
This field will be automatically populated with the first
30 characters of the Course Title field. You can edit
this field as needed to appear on transcripts.
Transcript Title
This field will be automatically populated with the first
40 characters of the Course Title field. You can edit
this field as needed to appear on transcripts.
Distribution Area
Specify whether or not the course satisfies a
distribution area requirement. If this is a graduate
course, use None.
Course Type
Select One Time Only, Topics Course, or
Permanent (for graduate courses only).
Course Topic
For new Topics courses, enter the topic title.
Grading Basis
See the description in Course Update CUP section.
Academic Group
Specify which division of the university the course will
be included in.
Course Description
Enter the permanent description of the course as it is
to appear in the Course Catalog. There is a 650-
character limit.
Reading/Writing Assignments
Type the text you want to appear in the Course
Offerings field. There is a 490-character limit.
Course Component
Enter the components for the new course. You can
define as many components as are required,
beginning with the graded component.
Final Exam
Indicate how the grade will be calculated: Final,
Other, or Take Home. Also enter the percentage for
each that will be used in the final grade.
