Cástulo de la Rocha is President and CEO of AltaMed Health Services Corporation, a non-profit community
health clinic that he directed from two employees to a JCAHO accredited Federally Qualified Health Center
with over 950 employees to its current position as the leading provider of high quality, comprehensive health
and human services in Los Angeles County.
AltaMed provides over 400,000 health and human services visits annually from its 22 sites in the greater L.A.
area, including five primary care clinics. It offers a wide-range of programs serving special needs populations.
For example, it has the largest HIV/AIDS program in East L.A. and is nationally acclaimed for its senior

Medallion for Public Health in 1992; Community Service Award in 1995 from the American Diabetes
Association; Significant Achievement Award in 1995 from the Chicanos for Creative Medicine; VNA Vantage
Award in 1996 from the Visiting Nurses Foundation; Aztec Award in 2004 from the Mexican American
Opportunities Foundation; CEO IT Achievement Award (Nominee) in 2004 from Modern Healthcare and
HIMSS; Change The World with a Giving Heart Award in 2004 from the Association of Fundraising
Professionals Greater L.A. Chapter; and named one of the Top 10 Latinos in the Health Care Industry from
Latino Leaders Magazine in 2004.
Castulo earned his Juris Doctorate from Boalt Hall School of Law at UC Berkeley; his BA in Political Science
from UC Santa Barbara; and a Certificate in Management from Stanford University. He has served on the
Board of Governors of L.A.Care Health Plan, as a Corporate Board Member of Blue Shield of California,
Regional Chair of the Surgeon General’s Hispanic/Latino Health Initiative, and as a Member of the L.A.
Orthopaedic Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees.
