Downtown Luxury Residence The Austonian Becomes the Talle
Austin’s premier downtown luxury condominium project The Austonian surpass
Austin 360 Condominiums, becoming the tallest structure in the capital city.
07.01.2009 – Austin, Texas - This week The Austonian became the tallest structure
in Austin. Level 51 of the luxury condo project was poured early Tuesday morning,
bringing The Austonian to a height taller than the Austin 360 Condominiums, the
formerly tallest building in the city.
The Austonian took the title of second tallest building in the capital city of Texas on
May 29 when Level 47 was poured, taking the height to 524 feet, taller than the Frost
Bank Tower. The 47th floor of The Austonian was poured exactly six years (to the
day) after the top-out of the iconic Austin building.
Scheduled for late November of this year, the installation of The Austonian’s glass
crown will bring the building to its final height of 683 feet, making the 56-story
Austonian the tallest residential building in the western United States. Nationally The
Austonian is rivaled in height by only a handful of residential projects in Chicago,
Miami and New York (source: Emporis.com).
The Austonian’s unique, slender design was created in consideration of the
building’s location at the corner of Congress Avenue and 2nd Street. Sweeping
views of Austin, Lady Bird Lake and the Texas Hill Country may be seen from
individual homes as well as the 55th-floor Austonian Club and the 56th-floor Fitness
The north side views are preferred by supporters of the Texas Longhorns, said Terry
Mitchell, Executive Marketing Director for The Austonian. “You can see the UT Tower
