THE HOUSTON INTERNATIONAL RISOTTO FESTIVAL TO BE HELD SUNDAY NOVEMBER 1ST
Chic Foodie Event to Benefit Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
October 29, 2009 – Houston TX – The Houston Design Center (7026 Old Katy Road) will
host Houston’s International Risotto Festival on Sunday November 1st from 1:30 PM –
5:30 PM. The festival will benefit The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Event chairs include
Melanie Brown, Micqui McGowen and Peggy McGowen.
Individual tickets are $65 if purchased by October 30th. Tickets may be purchased at
www.risottofestival.com. A limited number of individual tickets will be available at the
gate on November 1 for $75. Children under 12 are free.
Guests will enjoy a delicious afternoon of food, fun and festivities with some of
Houston’s finest chefs competing with some of their unique and favorite Risotto
recipes. Festivities include live music by Blue Flash, tours of designer showrooms,
bocce ball, tastings of award-winning wines, risotto sampling and a kid’s carnivale.
Participating restaurants include 17 at Alden, Arcodoro, Carmelo’s, Divino, Georges
Pastaria, Gravitas, Grotto, Massa’s, Mark’s American Cuisine, Masraff’s, Mockingbird
Bistro, Quattro/Four Seasons and Trevisio, along with executive chefs from Art Institute
of Houston, Wolf/Sub-Zero and Viking.
After a blind tasting by an esteemed panel of judges, the winners of the Risotto
competition will be announced and receive stunning custom glass awards designed
by artist Bill Meek, presented by Dauphin Sales. The judges for the Risotto competition
include Elouise Adams (Ouisie’s Restaurant), Laurann Claridge (PaperCity), Mark
Hanna (Customer First), Ernie Manouse (Houston PBS) and Mitchell Allen Parker
(HOUSTON Magazine).

Designers/TGCC, Ashly Antique Decorative Rugs, Belle Maison Designs, Bunch &
