11.13.2009 – 900 of Britain’s entrepreneurs and unemployed graduates will have
the opportunity to network at the Enternships.com Launch Party, an award-winning
online recruitment portal connecting graduates with UK & International start-ups and
small businesses. The launch is timely given the recently published report from the
Higher Education Careers Service Unit showing a staggering 44% rise in graduate
unemployment.
The Enternships.com Launch Party, is being held in partnership with Enterprise UK
at London nightclub Floridita. The event will feature a key-note speech from dot-com
millionaire Martha Lane Fox, Co-Founder of Lastminute.com. The launch will be one
of several events kicking off Global Entrepreneurship Week (16-22 November), an
initiative that the Prime Minister has called “a shining example of Britain leading the
world in enterprise and innovation”.
"Enternships passionately believes that by connecting small business to motivated
and innovative graduates, we are supporting start-ups and SMEs to access top
talent during the downturn and simultaneously inspiring enterns to start their own
ventures – which is key to the creation of jobs and the revival of our nation,” says
Rajeeb Dey, CEO and Founder of Enternships.com.
The premise behind Enternships.com is to recruit talented graduates into distinctly
entrepreneurial environments. Companies looking for enterns sign up online,
posting roles for which graduates register and apply. Widely supported by the start-
up community, Enternships.com has seen over 2000 applications from graduates,
and nearly 800 small businesses have signed up since the site’s soft-launch in May
2009.
Some top-performing graduates have already secured full-time positions following
their enternships. Broadcasting graduate Simon Lane ended up being off
