Key findings
A record quarter — recovery well underway
Q3 marked a recovery from the slowdown in deal numbers in the past year. It was
another bumper quarter for amount invested — 58% higher than the record
quarter pre-2017.
Growth stage deals leading the way
Deal numbers rose by 45.16% at the growth stage to record levels. Deals above
£10m accounted for 15.26%, more than ever before. The number of deals under
£500k has been declining steadily all year.
Deals above £50m grow more frequent
Growth at the later stage of the market has also been supported by an increase in
the number of mega deals, with 8 deals over £50m this quarter. Deliveroo's
£285m deal is the 4th largest on record.
London dominates the higher end of the market
Coinciding with the growth in frequency of large deals, is the growth in London's
share of overall deals (49.37% this quarter).
