Getting Piggy in Nakal
Despite the ever increasing heat, we have again been out for a bike ride this morning.
Alas the numbers are rather lower than normal – due to leave, work commitments –
and shock horror one person actually wanted a lie in on their week-end.
Dave however was back after a couple of weeks absence – and as he was the birthday
boy, he chose the route to Rustaq.
The Ride out:
The rather long motorway section (35 kms) seemed quite pleasant this morning, and
the feeling of happiness when I rode past my office without stopping added to the
“what a nice morning” feeling. I'm sure that the Oman road cleaning department had
been polishing and wax-ing the roundabouts overnight.... they felt mighty slippery.
With little traffic around – we made good progress.
With Dave disappearing from sight alarmingly
quickly. A few adjustments – and we set off in
After another long flat section we were in
Nakal, and things were about to get more
What's the L thing for ? How do I get one ?
Morning - Lets go
Please no diesel
Where's Dave ?
Caught up at last
The next 37 kms, are quite twisty - with a good road surface.
However, there is always the
possibility of the road being full of
Goats, sheep, oncoming Taxi's.... so as
always .... “Ride with caution” - Yea
With little traffic – we had a blast. Nothing too
quick – just steady progress.
Stunning Morning over the Mountains
He's getting away again
On arriving on the outskirts of Rustaq, we had a quick chat, and I suggested we
returned to Nakal – to do some more mileage whilst it was still cool, and also to find
some shade in a Date plantation – as we already were packing breakfast.
With a grin.... we turned around
With the thought of breakfast the last section was
a little quick.
I'll give you a head start
