Alumni Glee Club: Prepare, Rehearse, Deliver!
Take bets on it! The 150th Alumni Glee Club performance is going to be one whale of a concert!
f you know of any choral music fans within 500 miles of Ann Arbor, tell them to make their
way to town April 10 for the 3 o’clock show. They won’t want to miss this one!
Picture this: Four group choirs, three of them numbering 100 or more, each group performing
three select numbers of their own. About 430 guys on Hill’s historic stage singing the Biebl Ave
aria plus a passel of Michigan songs! And the whole event emceed by brother‐in‐song Bob
McGrath ’54 of Sesame Street fame!
It doesn’t get much better than that!
ow, of course, that’s all marketing hoopla until the rubber actually meets the road−until we
get ourselves into a room together and prove that we can deliver on the promise!
How we deliver will depend to a considerable extent on each one of us. On personal
preparation, diligence, focus, and attitude. On attention to detail. On training our voices to be
ready. On hard work and extra effort at home−well before arriving in Ann Arbor. If each of us
oesn’t practice hard on our own, if we put off learning our music until the first group
rehearsal April 9, well...then that marketing hoopla is just that! Hoopla!
On the other hand, if we all knuckle down. Dig in. Push ourselves. Practice hard on our own
nd learn our music−and get it memorized. Well, then, that’s a horse of a different color.
hat’ll produce res
ults to back up the marketing hype!
Print Your Music. If you haven’t yet visited the Glee Club web site to locate and print your
music, now’s the time. You have 16 days and counting to learn and memorize it. Here’s what
