The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s ENERGY STAR Small Business Network offers
free information, technical support and public recognition for restaurants that take action to
save energy. Energy efficiency is a sound business practice that improves profitability,
prevents pollution and conserves resources. This guide is designed to help your restaurant
save energy, protect the earth and boost your bottom line.
Cook Up Some Savings
Restaurants are energy-intensive operations, but it is not just the
cooking equipment that’s to blame—heating, cooling, lighting, and
sanitation each account for major portions of the average restaurant’s
electricity and natural gas consumption.
As you might guess, all that energy use means there’s a lot of room to
