AMACO to Host Potter’s Council’s Splendid Surfaces Conference
The American Art Clay Company is set to sponsor this year’s Potter’s Council Splendid Surfaces
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) June 28, 2010 -- The American Art Clay Company (AMACO), a leading name in the
art glazes, ceramic products and equipment industry, is set to sponsor this year’s Potter’s Council Splendid
Surfaces Regional Conference. Some of the nation’s top ceramic artists are set to present, share and instruct
ceramic artists and educators over the course of this inspiring three-day conference.
The conference will take place from September 17-19, 2010 in Indianapolis, IN at AMACO headquarters. On
the evening of Friday the 17th each pottery artist attendee will register and then commingle with others at the
AMACO gallery and reception. The following two days will offer a full schedule of learning and creativity where
attendees will learn from the featured presenters.
The AMACO-sponsored conference will include noted AMACO ceramics artists and lecturers such as Melissa
Calwell, Fong Choo, Molly Hatch, Kathy King and Tom Meuninck. This dynamic group represents some of the
most distinguished names in ceramics and will offer a variety of hands-on sessions during the conference.
The sessions are as varied as the presenters and represent the modern gamut of possibilities in clay. Conference
participants interested in the teapot form will have the chance to explore every aspect of this medium from
handling clay, ensuring craftsmanship and improving visual creative skills. Glazing through the use of brush and
spray gun layering, for a jewel-toned result, and monotype print and single firing processes will also be discussed.
There is also a practical component to the conference. Attendees will also have the opportunity to network with
featured artists and other participants. Business-minded attendees will learn more about pricing and giving
presentations that are key to a successful artist launch. This i
