AfterCollege Launches "Answers" Service to Connect Students
Social Recruiting tool allows college students to begin dialogue with employers
10.29.2009 – SAN FRANCISCO, CA – AfterCollege, celebrating a decade of
connecting college students with employment opportunities, has launched
"Answers," a social recruiting tool that taps into employers' existing human capital to
bridge relationships between companies and college students. The tool was
designed as a recessionary recruiting service to mobilize people within companies
to begin a mutually beneficial dialogue with students.
"Answers" allows employees at any company to locate their school on AfterCollege.
They are then asked to join their relevant department or group career network and to
update their profile with their current employer. With their identity established,
employees can begin answering questions posed by students within their career
network. College students often have job search questions but limited resources to
get those answers. The tool provides a private, user-friendly forum for these queries.
"We created the 'Answers' tools as a great way for employers to stay visible on
campus and to strengthen ties with academia," Roberto Angulo, Founder and CEO
of AfterCollege, said. "At the same time, interacting with alumni from their alma
mater gives students an opportunity to prepare for industry once opportunities
Employees have the option of establishing themselves as a mentor who takes the
lead in their particular career network. One question may have several answers, but
a thumbs-up, thumbs-down feature floats the best answer to the top. The
registration requirement ensures that all answers will be appropriate.
Employers can begin piloting this service by signing up with their alma mater at
AfterCollege.com or by contacting email@example.com.
