50th Annual General
Meeting … Elvis Is In
The House
Was it the Wonderland Gardens location? Was
it the beef BBQ? Was it the weather? All of these
things set the stage for a great evening on June 18th.
The pre-dinner entertainment of the A.B. Lucas
Woodwind Ensemble created an atmosphere for
casual conversation.
President Ian Shewan opened the AGM
describing the Mission of Hutton House through the
book “Just an Ordinary Life”, written by Connie
Mitchell. The following volunteers were recognized
for their service to Hutton House: Patricia Hellewell,
Lynda Mandziuk, Mary Hulley, Robyn Millar, Steven
Goodall, Sue Barnes, Jason Westbrook, Jim
Swartman, Gaile Cohen and Paul Coulter. Bob
Wallace received special recognition, including a set
of golf clubs, for reaching the milestone of 25 years
employment with Hutton House. Congratulations
Bob! Lori Bardy was also recognized for 5 years of
service. Departing Board member, Rick Coates,
received a gift for his 6 years of service.
And then, Elvis arrived!
Roy LeBlanc, the World’s Finest Elvis in Las
Vegas 2003, rocked and shook the house. Moving
throughout the crowd of close to 300 people, Elvis
welcomed audience participation and it happened!
After a long line of autographs and as people were
leaving, Elvis waved farewell from his red
convertible. As one parent said “no amount of money
could pay for the experience of tonight”.
