Leadership is a matter of how to be, not how to do it - Frances Hesselbein
Many people today are seeking to understand, and many people are writing about, the concept and practices of
leadership. There are a great many reasons for the popularity of the topic, including that organizations are faced
with changes as never before. The concept of leadership is relevant to any aspect of ensuring effectiveness in
organizations and in managing change. As Frances Hesselbein has said when asked by middle managers “How
can we free up the organization and make changes you talk about when we are not at the top?” I reply, “You can
begin where you are, whatever your job. You can bring a new insight, new leadership to your team, your group.”
