Safety Snapshot
Ready for Winter?
With holiday travel on the horizon,
PennDOT will launch Click It or

enforcement this month. Click It or

finishes after the new year.
In addition to seat belt enforce-

crack down on all traffic violations,
with increased focus on impaired and
aggressive drivers during Operation
Safe Holiday.
According to PennDOT, there
were 5,328 crashes resulting in 53
fatalities during the Thanksgiving
holiday period last year. The official
driving period includes the weekends
before and after the holiday.
Pennsylvania reported 125,327
crashes in 2008. There were 1,468
people killed and another 88,709
were injured in those crashes. Seat
belts were not worn in 7.9 percent of

Answer—The Impaired Driving section of the DriveSafePA.org Web site has
information on not only enforcement and penalties, but also contains a link
to a Blood Alcohol Calculator and information on underage drinking.
