RECEIVE LOCAL RECOGNITION
SUGAR LAND, TX (June 30, 2008) – Two Sugar Land Town Square tenants recently received
recognition for excellence in the community. The award-winning retailers were Sara Brook,
owner of Dessert Gallery Bakery & Café, and Sharlene Jacobson, owner of a Dog’s Life Luxury
Brook has been selected the “2008 Women in Business Champion of the Year in
Houston” by the U.S. Small Business Administration. In addition to her recent accomplishment,
Brook has won such prestigious awards as “Pastry Chef of the Year” presented by My Table
magazine and “Best Desserts in Houston” from many different publications.
Brook opened the Dessert Gallery Bakery & Café in 1995. The store’s Sugar Land Town
Square location is one of three Houston-area stores. Some of the menu items include cakes, pies,
cookies, sandwiches, salads and wraps. Dessert Gallery Bakery & Café is located at 2260 Lone
Jacobson’s store has been voted “Best Dog Boutique” by the readers of Houston Pet Talk
magazine for the second year in a row. Along with this year’s award, a Dog’s Life Luxury Dog
Boutique has won several in the past, including “Best Clothes for Your Dog” from the Houston
In addition to its award-winning merchandise, a Dog’s Life Luxury Dog Boutique is
involved with several area animal shelters, with plans to release a charity dog calendar soon.
Some of the pictures featured include a doggie wedding and Howl-o-ween costume contest. The
boutique offers everything from a fresh bakery case and healthy dog food products to doggie
sunglasses, clothes and spa products. The store’s kiosk location can be found on the plaza at
16121 City Walk.
