Connor Garmey Honored as a Grand Prize Winner in This Year’s K’NEXpert
Severna Park, MD 8-year-old to be awarded $10,000 Savings Bond from K’NEX Brands
Hatfield, PA (Vocus) November 18, 2009 -- K’NEX Brands, one of the world’s leading construction toy
manufacturers, has chosen Connor Garmey as one of the Grand Prize winners of its 2010 K’NEXpert Search. The
nationwide search asks kids ages 5-12 to submit original designs made entirely out of K’NEX pieces. Connor is
eight years old and lives with his parents in Severna Park, MD.
Connor won in the 7-8 year-old category with his model called Amazon Adventure Park, a tropical themed
amusement park with two roller coasters and a Ferris Wheel, made entirely of K’NEX.
K’NEX awarded three Grand Prize winners – one from each of three age categories – in this years’ contest. In
addition to Connor, Grand Prize winners include 6-year-old Alex Liao from Waterloo, ON, and 12-year-old Ian
Culhane of Olympia, WA. Each of the boys will be awarded a $10,000 U.S. Savings Bond to be used for their
education. In addition, the seven finalists will each be awarded $1,000 Savings Bonds.
The three Grand Prize winners will visit K’NEX headquarters in Hatfield, PA on December 1. As guests of
K’NEX President Michael Araten the winners will receive their award checks, enjoy a lunch with K’NEX
designers and take a private factory tour. Their award-winning models will be displayed at K’NEX headquarters.
