Entitled, The Apple, Rosenblat Love Story Will Be Published as
From the "greatest" to the most controversial love story ever told, York House
"The Apple"
01.20.2009 – White Plains, NY--York House Press has finalized an agreement with
Atlantic Overseas Pictures to publish a novel based on an updated movie script that
tells the love story of Holocaust survivor, Herman Rosenblat, and the controversy
surrounding his recently canceled memoir.
As a guest on Oprah and elsewhere, Herman Rosenblat told a tale of meeting his
future wife during the Holocaust when she tossed apples to him over the fence of a
Nazi concentration camp. His story captured the imagination of readers worldwide.
Many still want to read his story, despite the recent controversy surrounding the fact
that Mr. Rosenblat initially presented incidents in the story that were later disputed.
"We will publish what has become one of the most controversial love stories of all
time as fiction based on true events," said a York House Press spokesperson.
"Besides the love story, many people want to hear the story behind the story: why Mr.
Rosenblat constructed and told his tale as he did. This will be included in the book."
The novel, tentatively entitled, "The Apple", will be based largely on an existing movie
script, which is undergoing rewrites to include recent developments in the
Rosenblat story. The film is scheduled to begin production in a few months. The
book, slated for a fall publication and international release, will precede the movie's
release.
"The movie was written as a fictionalized interpretation of Herman's love story and
now the novel will reflect the film. Both will include relevant updates," says Atlantic
Overseas Pictures' Producer, Harris Salomon.
