ART TEACHER K-12
The job of an art teacher is to instruct students in creating art using a variety of methods such as
drawing, painting, sculpting, designing or other means.
REPORTS TO: Responsible to and works under the supervision of the Executive Director.
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in fine arts, studio arts or visual
A valid Minnesota Teacher's License.
Professional verification of successful classroom teacher performance and/or student teaching
Teaching experience in diverse cultural settings is valued
WORK HOURS: 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Prepare lesson plans and conduct daily classroom instruction in art education at an
appropriate instructional level
Maintain a healthy learning environment for the students in both the classroom as well as
Organize the classroom and learning resources to create a positive learning environment;
Select books and art supplies for courses.
Demonstrate method and procedure to students.
Observe and evaluate student’s to determine student progress or to make suggestions for
Work with students, parent, and counselor to resolve student problem.
Accompany students on field trips; and planning contests and arranging art exhibits
Provide feedback to parents on a student’s progress at conferences and other meeting
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to school values and code of conduct.
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all school policies and procedures.
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to the stipulations of the employment agreement
Be knowledgeable of and adhere to federal and state laws that apply to his/her job
Provide direction and supervision for all school activities to which assigned (coach, director,
supervisor, chaperon, etc.).
Participate in the devel
