Enfield High School is a competitive sec-
ondary school located in Enfield, Connecticut
established in 1893. The current facility was
built during the 1960s, replacing the previ-
ous building which is now used as Thomas Al-
corn Elementary School, which was previ-
ously the intermediate school. The Enfield
High School Complex and Campus is located
in the Connecticut River Valley, found right
off of Enfield Street (U.S. Route 5) in En-
field’s Historical District. Enfield High School
is one of two high schools in town. The school
has an enrollment of approximately 1000
students.
Enfield High School
Complex
Enfield High School encompasses a unique
location. Located on a steep hill right off the
Connecticut River, the school emphasizes the
importance of natural beauty and how it af-
fects the academic mind. On a clear winter
day, the Appalachian Mountains can be seen
from the campus. Having been built during
the Cold War, the facility was constructed
with a bomb shelter, that can be accessed
through "The Tunnel" which can be found in
the basement level of A Building. The Boiler
Room’s pipe tunnels were designed to serve
as bomb shelters. The architecture of the
building was inspired by those of Japanese
school buildings. The EHS complex and cam-
pus consists of five buildings:

efficiency and cost-saving, this building hold
