CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Project Description:
The Child Development project provides members with knowledge, skills and an understanding of human
development, relating to others and self care. It also provides information on the basic job skills for
babysitting and introduces careers related to child development.
Levels:
Division I
Division II
Division III
Division IV
Division V and above
Please note: A total of 3 exhibits will be chosen for State Fair.
Exhibit Requirements:
ATTENTION: Project manual and project explanation needed with ALL exhibits. Please put your name
and club name on your project manual. It is required that you attach a note explaining the age of the child
the item is intended for and its purpose.
Division I
Exhibit one of the following:
Include the completed project manual. Include an explanation of project/exhibit and ONE of the following:
• A toy, game or activity you have made suitable for a preschool child; or
• A book you have created about preschool children; or,
• An educational poster. See poster rules, page 22, #13.
Division II
Exhibit one of the following (Include the completed project manual):
• A toy, game or activity for a toddler including an explanation about the project; or
• A book you have created about toddlers or,
• An educational poster. See poster rules, page 22, #13. Completed project book must be
securely fastened to the back of the poster. (Suggest using a manila envelope to keep the
project book in and taping the envelope to the back of the poster).
Division III
Exhibit one of the following (Include the completed project manual):
• A babysitting kit you have made or put together, or
• A child's story book you have created.
Division IV
Use/follow manual guidelines. In this division you will learn about the development of infants. In this
series children are called infants from the time they are born until their first birthday. This manual will talk
about what kinds of changes happen during this first year
