The Basic Voice Communication System for
High-Security and Isolation Booth Situations
Today's self-service gas stations, drive-in restaurants, and other
multiple-access location business offer great convenience and
cost-savings. But the convenience and cost-saving are all but lost
when the attendant and customers cannot communicate easily and
With an Alpha Communications®/Norcon TTU-2 Talk-Thru com-
munication system on the job, poor communication is not allowed
to get in the way of business. The TTU-2 allows a single attendant
to communicate easily with customers in multiple locations. And
it facilitates orderly management of customer traffic flow.
How It Works...
The TTU-2 is a duplex communication system. This means the
customer and the attendant can talk and listen simultaneously. The
system is comprised of a basic (Norcon) patented TTU-1 unit, a
monitoring speaker, a selector station, and up to 10 island speaker/
microphone units as needed.
The customer alerts the booth attendant by pushing a button at the
remote island location. Once the attendant selects the calling
station on his selector unit, two-way conversation can begin.
The system provides clear communication even in environments
with high ambient noise, shaping the sound for maximum
intelligibility. Its compression circuitry decreases loud, annoying
sounds. An optional monitoring speaker can be located, for ex-
ample, in the manager's office.
How To Install...
The basic booth microphone/speaker unit (TTU-1) is easy to
install. All that's needed is a 3 to 4 in. cutout in the barrier wall. Four
(4) fasteners and two rubber gaskets needed for mounting are
