The following books belong to The collection of digitized books in
mathematical sciences, edited by Žarko Mijajlović. Books from this list
were, we believe, the first elderly books in sciense from Serbian authors that
were digitized. Digitization was performed in the period 1995-2000. The
choice of books for digitization, as well as technical preparation in most
cases, was done by Žarko Mijajlović. Comments on these books and on their
authors can be found in several articles by Mijajlović and other authors. In
this contest we would like to mention probably the most important publication
in this area, a series of books Lives and works of Serbian scientists,
published by Serbian Academy and Science. Eight books of this series were
printed up to now, the first one in 1996. The editor of this series was acad.
Miloje Sarić († 2003). About 120 biographies of Serbian scientists were
published in these eight books.
Digitizad versions of these books are published in memorial compact disks
125 years of the Faculty of Mathematics (ed. Ž. Mijajlović, 1998) and 130
years of the Faculty of Mathematics (ed. Ž. Mijajlović, 2003). Also, since
june 2004 they are on display at the site of the National Center for
Digitization, http://www.ncd.matf.bg.ac.yu .
