Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control
INFORMATION FOR DAILY ON-SALE
State of California
This license authorizes the temporary sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises
designated in the license. Sales for consumption off the premises are prohibited.
Sales may be made only on the day or days shown on the license certificate, and said certificate should
be conspicuously posted at the licensed location.
You may order or receive your alcoholic beverages after your license has been issued and within three
days of the operative date of your license.
If a license is to be issued to an area or place which is not clearly defined, such as a park area,
fairgrounds or street, it will be issued only when the applicant agrees in writing to confine his sales,
services and consumption of the alcoholic beverages to a specific, definable area under his supervision
and control. The licensee shall be responsible for any violation of the Alcoholic Beverage Control Act
No refund is possible after a daily on-sale general license is issued, even though the license is not used.
Issuance occurs with the delivery of the license and not on the effective date of the license.
You, as an alcoholic beverage licensee, must possess a valid seller's permit obtained from the Board of
Equalization. It is a misdemeanor to sell in this state without such a permit. If you need advice
regarding your sales tax obligations including the application of tax to your business, please write to any
Board of Equalization Office. Requests for advice should fully describe the facts and circumstances of
your business or transaction. In addition, as a seller of alcoholic beverages, you are required by the
California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986 (Proposition 65) to display warning
signs at point(s) of service.
