Contract of Employment for …………………….
This contract of employment sets out the basis of your employment and incorporates both the
agreed job description for your post as well as the overall terms and conditions of your
employment. In addition, you are employed in accordance with the Employment Decree 1975
and the Workers Compensation Act (8) of 2000. For clarification of items in this contract,
reference should be made to the programme’s staff manual/guidelines, which take precedence,
and then to the EDF Personnel Guidelines which is the ultimate precedent within Ugandan law.
1. Employer
You are employed by the Support to Strengthening the Institutional Arrangements for
Coordination and Monitoring of the MTCS and the Strategic Exports Programme (“The
Programme”). The programme is funded by the European Development Fund and the Austria
and receives counterpart support from the Government of Uganda. You will be employed
through the workplan programme period running from July 2004 to June 2005. Extensions to
your employment will be dependent on the approval and signing of subsequent work
programmes.
2. Employment Status
…………………..is hereby contracted as an employee of the Programme for an initial period of
twelve months. Renewal of the contract will be dependant on a positive evaluation of your
performance as described in your job description. The employment is for the post of .
3. Duty station and minimum hours
Your normal place of work will be the MTCS Secretariat in Kampala. You will be expected to
conform to the normal opening hours of the offices which are 8.00 am to 5.00 pm and cover the
days, Monday to Friday and you will be entitled to a lunch break not exceeding one hour.
It may be necessary for you to work additional hours or on other days including holidays. Where
these become excessive compared to that described in your job description there would be an
option for other days to be taken in lieu of the days worked at the discretion of the Imprest
