CONDITIONS OF ENTRY, RULES and GUIDANCE - OPEN DIGITAL SECTION 2006
1. General conditions of entry are the same as those for the slide and print sections. NB -
the closing date for digital entries is one week earlier. Additional conditions of entry for
this section are as set out below.
2. A maximum of 4 images may be submitted. These should be saved as JPEG files and
supplied on Compact Disc, memory stick or flash card only. (See instructions). Images
must not have been submitted as prints or slides in this or previous competitions.
3. Any images submitted will be deleted at the end of the competition.
4. Each digital image entered must be named as follows: Number, the author's name
(Surname first then Christian name) followed by title. (e.g. 01 BLOGGS Fred Railway
Sidings).
5. Images will be projected in a horizontal format at a screen resolution of 1024x768 pixels
using Microsoft Powerpoint. Images must be no more than 230mm wide and no more
than 170mm high. The maximum dimension of a vertical format image will thus be
170mm high. (For help on doing this see paragraph 8 at the end of this section). Your
images should be saved as jpeg files.
6. Your memory stick / CD should contain your image files only - one file only for each
image - maximum 4 images. Do not include another person's entry on the same disc.
7. Burn the CD as a Data CD and close it. Do not use options to write 'Session' or 'Multi
Session'. Select 'Disc at Once' or 'Write Disc' and the 'Close' option. After creating your
CD confirm that it is readable by inserting it into your standard CD Rom Drive (as
opposed to your CD burning drive). Print your name on the face of the CD with an
indelible marker - please do not use sticky labels.
8. Guidance for submitting digital images:
Go to Image >Image Size and untick the 'Resample Image' box. Change
width to 230mm maximum for landscape format photos or height to 170mm
maximum for portrait format photos. If the res
