Copper Valley Telephone Honored with Prestigious PPM Award
Proactive Plant Management Award Recognizes Innovative Telecommunications Providers
Richmond, VA (Vocus) October 24, 2009 -- Copper Valley Telephone Cooperative, headquartered in Valdez,
Alaska, has been named the recipient of the 2009 Proactive Plant Management (PPM) Award in recognition of the
company’s significant work in streamlining operations and enhancing customer service. The PPM Award, given
annually at Mapcom Systems’ M4 User’s Conference in Richmond, Virginia, spotlights innovative
telecommunications leaders who maximize the capabilities of M4 Solutions to manage their operations.
"Copper Valley Telephone is able to up-sell customers quickly and provide accurate quotes to potential
customers which has increased revenue, decreased customer losses and enabled winning back lost customers,”
stated John Granger, President and CEO of Mapcom Systems. “Time saved among techs who often travel 100
miles to provide service has been huge through this integration of M4 into their daily work. Overall, the
employees are saving time, reducing expenses and improving operations at Copper Valley. This is helping them
increase profits and provide better overall customer experiences.”
Copper Valley Telephone supports service in Alaska where some of the areas are very remote and require a ferry
or helicopter ride to access customers. They have provided service for over 47 years and have continually added
services to support their customers. In such a tough environment where annual snowfall averages 12 feet,
providing local and long distance service, 3mbps DSL, Dish TV and cellular service comes as no easy task.
“M4 Solutions has allowed us to manage four exchanges where there is no formal addressing system,” said Dave
Dengel, Copper Valley’s CEO and GM. “With a Geographical Operations System, Copper Valley is able to
manage plant assignment with service location IDs and addresses that are attached to a physical structure location.
