3. HAZARDS IDENTIFICATION
Emergency Overview:
White, odorless, powder. Causes burns to skin and eyes. Dust
irritating to respiratory tract. Due to high pH of product,
release into surface water is harmful to aquatic life.
Noncombustible. Reacts with acids and some organics.
Eye contact:
Causes eye burns.
Skin contact:
Causes skin burns.
Inhalation:
Dust irritating to respiratory tract.
Ingestion:
Causes burns to digestive tract..
Chronic hazards:
No known chronic hazards. Not listed by NTP, IARC or OSHA
as a carcinogen.
Physical hazards:
Can etch glass if not promptly removed.
4. FIRST AID MEASURES
Eye:
In case of contact, immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes. If easy to do, remove contact lenses, if worn. Get medical
attention immediately.
Skin:
In case of contact, immediately flush skin with plenty of water for at least
15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Get
medical attention immediately. Wash clothing before reuse. Thoroughly
clean shoes before reuse.
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If
breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Get medical attention.
