Writing the College Application Personal Statement
Hello, Soon-to-Be Twelfth Graders! Are you just beginning to think about that personal statement your
colleges of choice will be asking you to write? Perfect timing--but don't wait too long! Get started this
summer.
Who:
Entering high school seniors--only!
When:
July 27 - July 31, 2009
9:00 - 12 noon
Plus an individual follow-up meeting in October 2009
Where:
UCLA Campus
Cost:
$300.00
During our time together, you'll try your hand at a variety of application topics, explore the role of style (not
just what you say but how you say it), and analyze engaging sample personal statements. You'll write in
workshop style--drafting, sharing, revising, and editing. After the week-long session, you'll have two months
to choose your colleges, find out what their essay topics are, and begin to write. Our October follow-up
sessions will take the form of 45-minute one-on-one conferences.
Registration is due by June 26, 2009
Enrollment is limited and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Please apply early. Check should be
made payable to UC Regents for $300.00. Cancellations are subject to a $20.00 handling fee. No refunds
after July 3, 2009.
