Many persons participated in the various activities of the 1997 Economic Census—Manufacturing
and Mining. Judy M. Dodds, Assistant Chief for Census and Related Programs, was responsible
for the overall planning and management of the Numerical List of Manufactured and Mineral
Products.
The Economic Planning and Coordinating Division provided the computer processing proce-
dures. Shirin A. Ahmed, Assistant Chief for Post-Collection Processing, was responsible for the
interactive database review and correction system. Dennis Shoemaker, Chief, Post-Collection
Census Processing Branch, assisted by Brandy L.Yarbrough, Section Chief, prepared the design
and specifications. Sheila M. Proudfoot provided primary staff assistance.
Mendel D. Gayle, Chief, Forms, Publications, and Customer Services Branch, assisted by
Julius Smith Jr., Baruti A. Taylor Sr., Patrick A. Duck, Charles T. Lee Jr., and Taylor C. Murph
performed coordination activities such as developing specifications, integrating activities with other
divisions, and quality control.
The development and review of the product codes in the Manufacturing and Mining sectors was
performed under the direction of Patricia L. Horning, Chief, Construction and Minerals Branch,
assisted by M. Susan Bucci, Section Chief; Kenneth I. Hansen, Chief, Manufactured Durables
Branch, assisted by Mike Brown, Renee Coley, Raphael Corrado, and Milbren Thomas, Section
Chiefs; and Michael Zampogna, Chief, Manufactured Nondurables Branch, assisted by Allen
Foreman, Robert Miller, Robert Reinard, and Nat Shelton, Section Chiefs. Primary staff
