1. GENERAL INFORMATION
This document is intended as a guide and should not be regarded as a substitute for
expert advice. The intention is that it should compliment the advice of Insurers,
Security Consultants and local Planning Authorities.
These proposals are not all encompassing and site conditions will determine the final
solution. It is intended that by following the proposals laid down as guidance in this
document, users can remain assured that only minor modifications will be required by
the cash in transit carriers.
It is recommended that prior to construction, the ATM owner should provide details of
the proposed installation to the cash carrier, using the “Notice to Install” proforma
(Appendix A). The cash carrier, having undertaken the “Pre-Installation Site Survey”
(Appendix B), should indicate the suitability of the scheme, thereby avoiding significant
changes during construction
It is recommended that all physical construction and allied works are completed by the
handover period so as to avoid any delays to servicing. The carrier should return a
completed “Handover” Certificate (Appendix C), acknowledge acceptance of each site
prior to the commencing of cash services.
The security measures for an installation should not negate any facilities or procedures
associated with fire and emergency precautions, particularly means of escape in case of
fire. Such facilities and procedures may be required under a number of statutory
provisions such as those covering fire precautions, Town and Country planning and

before any alterations are made to the structure or layouts of the locations, or to
