Acacia Subsidiary Enters into Settlement
Agreement with Cerner

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--Acacia Research Corporation (Nasdaq: ACTG)
announced today that its Document Generation Corporation subsidiary has entered into a settlement agreement with
Cerner Corporation covering patents relating to document generation software. The agreement resolves litigations
that were pending in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and United States District
Court for the Southern District of Illinois with respect to certain Cerner products.
The document generation technology generally relates to the generation of a document utilizing user-modifiable
document structures, a database including information to be placed into a particular document structure, and a
computing device which combines the particular document structure with relevant information stored in the database.
