City Manager Position
Negotiable DOQ (Currently $215,000)
The City of Coachella is ideally located off the I-10 Freeway just east of Indio, and is the
primary transportation corridor between Los Angeles and Phoenix. The City is located near
Thermal Airport; a new community college, and the City is only 20% developed – there is a great
opportunity for new development. At the northern gateway to the City, a $17.5 million grade
separation project has been completed.
Coachella is looking for an experienced City Manager who shares its vision. The City
Manager serves as CEO of the City; directs and supervises all operations of the municipal
organization; directs the activities of City departments and personnel to implement the policies
and programs of the City Council; advises Council of the financial condition and needs of the
City; administers the City’s personnel program and coordinates enforcement and execution of all
laws and ordinances; exercises general supervision over all municipal buildings and property;
prepares and submits the annual budget and enforces it after adoption; provides leadership for
civic movements designed to benefit the residents of the City as authorized by the Council; is the
Executive Director of the Redevelopment Agency, advisory committees, local, state and federal
agencies and other utility organizations – and all other duties as necessary.
EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in public or business administration;
possession of a Master’s degree is desired. Responsible experience in full-service local
government, with special emphasis on financial management, redevelopment and
economic/community development. Must have a good working relationship with all phases of
local government.
