METRO ETHERNET SWITCHING DEPLOYMENT BOOT CAMP
COURSE OVERVIEW
The Metro Ethernet Switching Deployment Boot Camp gives you the knowledge and skills required to configure the
seven Metro Ethernet services that make up the Cisco® Metro Ethernet solution. You will also learn Metro Ethernet
architectures, features, and network designs. Eleven hands-on labs show you how to implement Metro Ethernet
services including Ethernet Wire Service (EWS), Ethernet Relay Service (ERS), and Ethernet Relay Multipoint Service
(ERMS). You will also learn to deploy Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) and Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol
(MSTP).
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
This course is intended for network professionals who design, implement, or deploy Metro Ethernet switching services.
OBJECTIVES
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to perform the following tasks:
• Configure and troubleshoot the various Metro Ethernet deployment solutions: ERS, EWS, Ethernet Multipoint Service (EMS), ERMS,
ERS Access to MPLS VPNs, and Access to ATM Internetworking
• Characterize the various caveats of each Metro Ethernet solution, such as VLAN implementation at the customer edge or tunneling
versus trunking
• Identify the configuration between Layer 2 Metro Ethernet service implementation and Layer 3 MPLS
• For Metro Ethernet solutions implement VLAN IDs, Spanning Trees, QoS mechanisms, network resiliency, and security
• Configure IEE 802.1q Tunneling (Q-in-Q)
• Implement Virtual Private LAN Service (VPLS)
• Deploy Ethernet over MPLS (EoMPLS)
• Describe the various equipment by solution which would best fit a network implementation
• Describe multiple known security attacks and how to solve them, including closing several back doors
