Toys are one of the things that will stay with us for a very
long time. We all remember playing with them when we
were kids, don’t we? These toys take us back to our
childhood, make us feel like kids again, and make
excellent collectibles for our children to keep long after
they’ve outgrown them.
Many of us own antique toys that were handed down to us
from family members or bought at antiques shops. Such
toys are cherished family possessions because they take us
back to good old days and remind of us happy childhood
days. Because these toys have been kept for a long time,
they have become dirty over the course of time.
Wooden toys like wooden trains, wooden blocks and
even wooden cars, they can be a lot of fun and they also
last a really long time. But how do you clean and
maintain your favourite wooden toys? It's actually not
difficult provided you use gentle non-abrasive products
and do it correctly.
It is important to clean wooden toys after your child has
used them, as they can become dirty and even mouldy.
Children put their toys in their mouth, so you want to make
sure they are clean for safety reasons, but also to ensure
that the paint does not wear off. Keeping your wooden toys
clean will keep them looking great for longer and also keep
them in the best condition to give to future generations.
• Here's how you can clean wooden toys:
• Take a bowl or spray bottle full of warm water and
add a small amount of mild dish soap.
• For stubborn stains, use a mix of 1 parts vinegar to
10 parts warm water solution.
• Spray or dab cloth onto the wooden toy (never soak
or fully immerse toy in water as this will cause
swelling and cracks/ damage.
• Wipe toy down gently with cloth or sponge.
• Place toy outside in a safe place and allow to dry
(Avoid direct sunlight)
