CITY FISHER INSERT #13
HOLIDAY GIFT GUIDE
The holidays are upon us once again! If you are searching for gift ideas, The City Fisher has a
few recommendations. Browse below for some suggestions that might fit the bill for your favorite
fishin’ buddy . . . you might even find something for yourself!
VICTORINOX SWISS ARMY KNIFE – The predecessor of modern multi-
tools and multi-pliers, the Swiss Army Knife has been around for a long
time and is still the smallest and most compact miniature tool set available.
Onboard you’ll find such gadgets as knives, scissors, screwdrivers, can
openers, and more. The cleverly-hidden spring steel tweezers, standard
issue on every model, are the best I’ve found anywhere for removing
splinters. A dizzying array of styles and sizes are available, including
angler models. Perfect for tackle box or key chain.
GERBER MULTI-PLIER – This compact multi-tool measures less than
five inches when folded, but packs in a knife, scissors, screwdrivers,
wire cutters, and other handy accessories. The pliers in particular make
this a more versatile package than the Swiss Army Knife, although at a
larger size. This will fit easily in nearly any tackle box, and can come in
handy for emergency reel repairs, hook removal, or line cutting. Various
models are available with different tools and plier styles.
SCISSOR FORCEPS – A bit easier to use and handier than full-sized
pliers or a multi-tool. A pair of locking scissor forceps can clip onto a
belt loop and be readily available for unhooking fish, trimming line, or
squeezing on split shot. These are a bit harder to find than regular
forceps, but choose them for the added versatility of the scissors.
PLANO 8606 AND 9606 TACKLE BOXES – These are the 10-
gauge magnums of the tackle box world! Either one of these
offers about as much room as any angler could need, with dozens
of lure compartments and very generous bottom storage. Boat
anglers can carry their entire lure collection with them! While
