Job Description and Qualifications
Administrative Office of the Trial Court

Working within the Legal Department of the Administrative Office of the Trial
Court, Administrative Attorneys represent the interests of the Trial Court in all
legal matters. Administrative Attorneys address a variety of legal issues and
questions that arise from the administration of the Trial Court and develop and
implement court policies.
This Administrative Attorney position is responsible for actively supporting and
overseeing litigation conducted by the Attorney General=s Office on the Trial
Court=s behalf; performing legal research; drafting legal memoranda, pleadings
and other legal documents; reviewing, amending and administering contracts;
staffing Trial Court committees; and performing related legal and administrative
duties. Further responsibilities include reviewing and responding to complaints,
questions, and requests for information from the public, attorneys, judges, court
officials and government agencies.
Acts as liaison to the Attorney General=s office for litigation in which the Trial
Court or one or more of its employees is named as a defendant. May be
designated a Special Assistant Attorney General to represent the Trial Court in
various kinds of legal proceedings.
Researches and prepares memoranda on a variety of legal issues at the
direction of the General Counsel/Legal Department Director.
Reviews and approves contractual agreements entered into by the various
divisions and departments of the Trial Court. Drafts necessary amendments to
contracts and coordinates the contract funding process with the Fiscal
