AGREEMENT ON THE MUTUAL ACCESS TO THE NORDIC
UNION CATALOGUES AND ESTER DATABASES FOR
INFORMATION RETRIEVAL AND COPYING OF RECORDS
1. The partners and aim of the agreement
This agreement is made between the SVUC participants (BIBSYS, Dansk
BiblioteksCenter, Helsingin yliopiston kirjasto, Kungliga biblioteket, Landskerfi
bókasafna and Nasjonalbiblioteket) and ELNET Konsortsium (Eesti Raamatukoguvõrgu
Konsortsium; Estonian Libraries Network Consortium, consisting of 12 libraries) for
mutual access to the bibliographical union catalogues maintained by these partners for
information retrieval and copying of catalogue records. The hosts themselves, and the
libraries belonging to the union catalogue consortia, are entitled to copy only those
records for the materials they have in their collections.
The databases covered by this contract are SVUC databases (Bibsys, Danbib, Gegnir,
Libris, Linda, Manda and Sambok) and the two Ester union catalogue databases, located
in Tallinn and Tartu.
Every library belonging to a consortium listed above has the right to access all the
databases included for free. The consortia covered are listed in Appendix 1. The
consortia may maintain lists of their member libraries and make them available in the
2. The duration of the agreement and amendments to it
The agreement is effective as of 1st January 2006 until the partners agree to terminate it
(see paragraph 5) or until the content of the agreement is changed.
ELNET Consortium and any SVUC partner may suggest modifications to this contract.
Once the amendment has been approved by both the majority of the SVUC partners and
ELNET Consortium, the contract will be modified.
3. The technical implementation
Access to the databases is implemented using Z39.50 applications. These applications
should be compatible with
the release 2.0 of
the Z39.50 Bath profile
