Annual Client Letter – Tax Season 2010,
Happy New Year, we hope that your holidays were enjoyable. Another tax season
is rapidly approaching and we are busy preparing for it. Most of us would like to forget last
year and focus on better times ahead.
Since October of 2008 there has been a seemingly endless list of tax changes. We
have summarized the most relevant on the following page. A few of them require special
mention. The First-time Home Buyer credit of $8000 and the Long-time Homeowner
credit of $6500 are available for purchases under contract by April 30, 2010. The State of
Illinois now requires the parcel number of your home in order to take the IL Property Tax
Credit. Please bring your Property Tax bill with you. Energy credits are back for 2009
and 2010. Please see the enclosed 2009 Tax Law Changes for more details.
Please use the checklist that is included with this letter; it can save you time and
money. We request that you provide written totals (not verbal) for your deductions,
including charitable contributions, medical expenses, business expenses, etc. This also
includes written totals for utilities for anyone who has an office-in-home. If you want direct
deposit, please provide us with the name of your bank, routing and account number, and
whether it is checking or savings (a copy of a check is preferred). If we do not have the
direct deposit information in writing, it will default to a check in the mail. Please remember
our $25 Referral Payments to those who recommend us to others; you will receive $25
off on itemized returns ($10 each for less complex returns).
We are pleased to announce that we have started a new Real Estate Sales
business, Glinda Real Estate. We will offer a substantial rebate to our real estate buyers
and sellers. Please see the
