Giving Back to Communities
Served by the People of Edison
The shareholders, employees
and management of Edison
International have a
long-standing tradition
of corporate giving to the
communities they serve.
The focus of Edison’s
community support programs is enhancing education
opportunities among underserved groups and strengthening
community stewardship of the environment. The company’s
educational emphasis is support for math, science and
engineering programs that will help build the skilled
workforce of the future that will be required to meet the
nation’s energy needs.
Edison’s involvement in community building takes two forms
– employee and corporate giving.
Employee Giving
Edison conducts an annual employee contributions drive
offering numerous options for how and to whom workers can
pledge their support to local charities. In 2008, Edison
employees gave more than $3.8 million to such organizations.
Over the past ten years, employee giving has provided $36
million in support for these community
causes.
Edison employees also give
their time, skill and energy to
community building. Through
a company program, employees
donated 227,000 hours to
organizations of their choice
including churches, women’s
shelters, food banks, youth
activities and schools. During
the past seven years, Edison
employees have volunteered more than 2 million hours
to community service programs.
