Dubai’s New Bloomingdales Speaks the Amerlux Language of Light
Amerlux Products Featured Throughout Historic Chain’s First International Location
Fairfield, N.J. (Vocus) February 22, 2010 -- International shoppers who visit Dubai’s newly unveiled three-story,
200,000 square foot Bloomingdales will not only discover some of the world’s most refined and posh
merchandise, but they will see merchandise in a whole new light thanks to Amerlux Global Lighting Solutions,
the leader in manufactured architectural grade energy-efficient lighting solutions. Amerlux was selected as the
architectural lighting provider of choice for the newly opened global shopping hot spot.
“Overseas projects present a number of challenges for specifiers,” noted Doug Russell, principal with Lighting
Workshop and the lead lighting designer for the Dubai Bloomindales’ project. “We selected Amerlux because
they build quality products for the international market that meet the design, aesthetic and efficiency standards
required in the U.S. that we strive to employ in places like Dubai.”
According to Russell, hundreds of Amerlux products – from track, accent, wall and ambient lighting – were
incorporated into the nearly $75 million Bloomindales’ building, covering 75 to 80 percent of the first
Bloomingdales’ location to be built outside the United States in the department store chain’s 138-year history.
Included in the overall store was approximately $1 million in Amerlux products, including the company’s Trough
System, Evoke 2.9 International, Cylindrix Track Heads and Multiples, and Gruv Fluorescent product lines
“Amerlux offers international lighting designers the highest standards of efficiency, design and compatibility
where varied electrical standards, requirements and designs are just some of the challenges designers face
overseas,” explained Amerlux President and CEO Chuck Campagna.
