Free opens the World’s largest Wifi community network
with 3 million Wifi hotspots
Free opens the World’s largest Wifi network with 3 million Wifi hotspots operating on
installed Freebox HD.
This service enables all Free unbundled users to benefit from free internet access
(included in their ADSL package) through these access points in unbundled areas.
This network is separated from Free users’ private Wifi network. Unlike other
initiatives, Freewifi is completely secured. Every Free user will connect to the
community Wifi network via an appropriate IP address (and not the IP address of the
Freebox on which he is connected). The secured access to FreeWifi will be provided
through authentication on a web interface http://wifi.free.fr .
This service will thus enable Free users to benefit from an internet connection when
they are not at home, for example on their holidays’ places.
Service available as experimental beta version subject to terms and conditions and accessible subject to
subscribers residing in an area covered by the service.
In the event of their ADSL access being interrupted, this new service will provide Free users with an emergency
internet connection.
Wifi transmission level < 0.5V/m at 0.5m Users can switch off Wifi on their subscription console.
