Arnot Forest – Cabin Rental Policy for Hunters
Overview: The Arnot Forest will conduct a program with cabin rentals to hunters or
groups of hunters during the 2008 deer hunting season. This opportunity is only
available for hunters who will be registered in the Earn-a-Buck program and for those
times when they hunt at the Arnot Forest.
Hunters must follow the rules listed below. Failure to comply with all rules will result in
immediate loss of cabin privileges, forfeiture of any fees, and the potential for loss of
hunting privileges at the Arnot.
Objectives: Support Arnot hunter access to forest properties by allowing rental of
cabins. Offset all costs associated with hunter use of cabins and generate revenue to
support Arnot programs.
Hunter Rules and Restrictions for Arnot Cabin Use:
1. Hunters are expected to behave in an orderly fashion and respect the rights of
others in the field campus. Unruly or disruptive behavior will not be tolerated.
Hunters should plan for quiet time from 10:00 PM to 4:30 AM.
2. Hunters should be respectful of the modest furnishings and cabin interiors.
Cabins are generally described as rustic, and bed frames are old. Hunters are
welcome to bring their own cot or air mattress. Coffee makers are permissible,
but grills, campfires, or any electric appliance(s) that generate heat are forbidden.
Any damages to cabins, other buildings, or the field campus will be extracted
from the security deposit. Additional charges for damages will be levied as
necessary. All cabins should be “broom clean” when left.
3. Hunter use of cabins is at their own risk. The Arnot Forest and Cornell University
provide no guarantee of freedom from theft, damage, or injury to persons or
belongings. Doors to cabins do not lock.
Cabin rental fees are $100 per night per cabin (prepaid) with a maximum of 4
hunters per cabin and a minimum of two consecutive nights (preference given for
longer durations). Rental fees are not refundable. A $100 “security
