DECISION 154 EX/7.7
Criteria and procedures for consideration of the proposals by the Member States
concerning the celebration of anniversaries with which UNESCO could be associated
(154 EX/33 and 154 EX/52)
The Executive Board,
1.
Having examined document 154 EX/33;
2.
Approves the criteria and procedures proposed in this document for consideration and
decision making by the governing bodies with regard to requests concerning the
anniversary celebrations with which UNESCO could be associated in the future;
3.
Decides to consider at its session immediately preceding the General Conference the
proposals of Member States transmitted to it by the Director General, in order to submit
them to the General Conference for overall approval;
4.
Recommends to the General Conference that it consider only proposals submitted to it by
the Executive Board in accordance with this decision.
DECISION 159 EX/7.5
Review of the modalities and procedure to be followed for establishing the list of
anniversaries proposed by Member States with which UNESCO could be associated
(159 EX/32 et 159 EX/44)
The Executive Board,
1.
Having examined document 159 EX/32,
2.
Approves the amendments proposed therein to the criteria and procedure concerning the
celebration of anniversaries with which UNESCO could be associated in the future, for
consideration and decision by the governing bodies, paragraph 11(b) to read as follows:
"Commemorations of the birth, independence or institutional regime of a State will not be
eligible for consideration; similarly the anniversaries of military events will be excluded".
