LOS ANGELES--(EON: Enhanced Online News)--De La Rosa & Co. has filled a strategic seat on its growing
Sales and Trading desk with Bradford Thiel, a leader in California’s municipal finance industry. Thiel, a 27-year
veteran of bond underwriting at Citigroup, Lehman Brothers and other firms, will work with De La Rosa partners
Benjamin Stern and Christopher Tota.
Stern, who directs De La Rosa’s underwriting operations, said Thiel will help maintain the firm’s level of service to
issuers and investors as its volume of underwriting continues to grow. DLR was ranked 10th among U.S.
underwriters in senior-managed volume during the second quarter of 2010.
“Brad adds another senior presence to the underwritings we manage,” Stern said. “Together with Chris Tota, who
joined us in 2008 as head of sales and trading, we have assembled a desk that can outperform any other firm in
selling, trading and underwriting California bonds.”
Thiel said he has watched De La Rosa grow over the past 20 years into an established presence in municipal finance,
with offices in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
“I have been impressed by how the firm has remained committed to growth and focused on California,” said Thiel,
who was born and raised in the Pasadena area. “I look forward to working with DLR bankers to bring the
underwriters’ perspective to issuers.”
De La Rosa & Co. has ranked among the top California underwriters for years. In 2010, De La Rosa increased its
mid-year volume to $2.46 billion, a 61.9% increase over the same period in 2009.
Thiel has worked at Lehman Brothers and Citigroup, where he was a managing director and oversaw Citi’s
California trading operations, for most of his 27-year career. He has served seven years as a Board member of the
California Public Securities Association.
He will begin at De La Rosa’s Los Angeles office on Aug. 16.
