Hi everyone! I’m Simon, or Peter as Jesus called me. I am one of
Jesus’ disciples. I followed him while he was on earth for three years.
I loved him so much…I still do.
It was so great to see Jesus after he had risen from the grave. We were
all filled with joy. Jesus told us that he had to return to heaven, but he
promised us that he was sending a helper, a gift for us from God. The
helper would not come until Jesus returned to heaven. He told us to
stay in Jerusalem until his arrival. We did not really know exactly
what Jesus meant, but we trusted him and stayed together in the city
just as he told us.
On the day of Pentecost (50 days after the start of Passover) we were
all together, the other disciples and I. Suddenly there was a sound like
a violent wind blowing from heaven. Then, it looked like these
tongues of fire were resting on our heads! We were all filled with the
Holy Spirit. That was the gift or helper Jesus had talked about.
Because of the Holy Spirit we were able to speak different languages
we did not know before.
